Description

Septimus Dawson (1851-1914)'The Teacher' and 'Discussing with a poor irish child, Oil on canvas, 41 x 56cm (16 x 24''), signed Septimus Dawson was born in Sunderland , Durham to apparently Irish parents. He is knows to have visited and painted in Ireland on a number of occassions. He specialised in depicting rustic types and genres similar to those painted by Erskine Nicol.
